Society Of Saint Vincent De Paul St Elizabeth Ann Seton

About Us

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton (SEAS) parish was founded in 1971 as a neighborhood annex of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach, California. The SEAS community invested its first-decade assembly and celebrating Mass in private houses and public amenities. Rev. Thomas Gannon served as founding leader.

In 1976, the mission church designated a parish in the newly formed Diocese of Orange. The first multi-level construction, such as parish hall, was completed in July 1981 and served as a neighborhood gathering place and worship space. At that moment, the next pastor, Rev. Kenneth O'Keeffe has been appointed.

Bishop Norman McFarland was dedicated to the current worship space in 1994, after the installation of SEAS third pastor, Rev. Thomas P. Pado. Since 1994, our parish has included a brand new Youth Center and remodeled the parish hall/multi-purpose construction to adapt more entirely to the parish community's requirements.

The parish has grown since its beginning to approximately 1000 families in 2015.

SEAS people represent a varied community of big and tiny households, young adults and senior citizens, indigenous Californians, and those who have come here from throughout the nation and worldwide. Our parish also has the University of California Irvine, and also we have a very important connection with the Catholic campus neighborhood. Many staff and faculty members will also be parishioners.

Parish Patron
Elizabeth Ann Bayley was born in 1774 in NYC, two years before the Declaration of Independence was signed. At age 18, she married William Seton. He died nine decades after, leaving her five children to raise alone.

In 1805, Elizabeth converted to Catholicism and had been shunned by her loved ones. Shortly afterward, she moved to Emmitsburg, Maryland, and started a boarding school for women to support herself and her kids.

In 1809 Elizabeth took religious vows and founded the Sisters of Charity, the USA's first religious community. Elizabeth and her fellow sisters tried to adhere to the ideals of St. Vincent de Paul by serving children, the poor, the ill, and the sorrowful. From 1813 her community chased 17. Following a protracted illness, she died in 1821 of tuberculosis.

Elizabeth Ann Seton's heritage is the enormous love she pumped out in family, friends, her community. Since her passing, the Sisters of Charity have expanded throughout the USA. She was canonized a saint--the first native-born American saint--in 1975 by Pope Paul VI.

Our Program

Community Support center- Our Organization provides emergency assistance, financial and food, to those who contact us, apply and are approved. Financial assistance included rental and utilities assistance, bus passes, gasoline cards, grocery store cards, and phone cards.

Program for Kids and Youth- We wish to share the gospel's expectations in all that we do and with whom we meet. This commitment reflects our view that trust and psychological well-being are profoundly connected. We have created programs in partnership with parents that prayerfully and playfully
call teens to the joy and challenge of the Gospel of Jesus. Inculcating moral value in our teens, allowing them to see Christ within themselves
and become Christ to the world around them.

Mental Health and awarenessWe also provide resources that meaningfully participate in the subjects of religion and emotional wellness. Our content is designed in cooperation with theologians, psychologists, and people with lived experience of mental health issues.
